This Gold Standard CYTOFIX Fixative Spray contains:

1.SOLVENT: A composition according to the invention includes one or more solvent to penetrate the tissue or cells, dehydrate the cells, & inhibit bacterial & vital activity.The solvent is a mixture of alkanols, which penetrate slowly & when combined with other reagent ,fixes the samples rapidly.It denatures protein by precipitation,precipitates glycogen & dissolve fats & lipids.

2.KETONE:The ketone is a fixative with similar action to that of alcohol , except that glycogen is not well preserved. The ketone acts as a fixative & additionally enables the overall composition to penetrate the cells.

3.CELL COATING:The coating over the samples helps protect the cells or tissue from the effect of drying. The coating is important to prevent shrinkage of the cells & to retain nuclear detail.

4.POLYOL:The polyol , as such prevent the drying of cells during sample processing.Cells that have been kept in fixative solution for an extanded time typically become rigid due to the fixing process & are less able to spread on the slide.The polyol helps the cells to flatten on the slide.

5.CROSSLINKER:The crosslinker react with protein end-group to crosslink molecules & for produces an insoluble product.

6.DETERGENTS:The detergent, such as a non-ionic detergent is used as a dispersing agent & for solubilizing protein & membrane components to diminish cellular aggregation.

7.BUFFER:The buffer maintain the solution at a pH & provides a medium for transportation.The buffer may also includes a fixative that precipitates nucleoprotein & one or more osmolarity maintainers.

8.MUCOLYTIC AGENT:A mucolytic agent is included in the fixative composition of the present invention for use in preparing a particulate monolayer from specimens such as sputum, bronchial alveolar washing & lavages, gastric washing & lavages.

Most of these agents have dual action in that they fix the cells, and when dry, form a thin protective coating over the cells.
